Restaurant zur Waage

The Restaurant zur Waage in the centre of Windisch is more than a lunch venue. As a social business of Lernwerk Betriebe AG, it offers varied, home-cooked menus daily and at the same time provides a real workplace for people practising their way into the labour market. The requirement for the site was therefore deliberately reduced: no menu app, no complex booking systems, no unnecessary marketing layers. Instead, a clear, warm presence that shows what the restaurant is and what it offers.

The design comes from mehrwert Agentur in Baden, with whom we have already implemented the main site of Lernwerk Betriebe AG. The technical implementation was on our side. Technologically the site runs on Contao Open Source CMS, a platform we have been committed to as Premium Partner for over 18 years. The theme was developed individually for the restaurant, with a standalone visual language that sets itself apart from the Lernwerk main site while carrying the same design DNA.

The structure of the site is deliberately compact: a home page with a clear slogan and access to the weekly menu, an About Us page that tells the history of the restaurant and its anchoring in Lernwerk, and a Contact page with address, opening hours and directions. The weekly menu is maintained as a PDF and is reachable from the home page in one click, which gives the kitchen maximum flexibility for weekly updates without CMS overhead. This reduction is conceptual and not the result of budget constraints: a lunch venue lives from its menu and the trust of regulars, not from digital feature fireworks.

We look after the site continuously with maintenance, updates and targeted further development. The project is a nice example of how a corporate portfolio (Lernwerk as a whole) and a specific sub-brand (Restaurant zur Waage) can be differentiated technically and visually without losing the sense of belonging.
